The 7th Children of
Asia Summer International Sports Games officially opened in Primorye Territory
in the towns of Vladivostok and Artem. Athletes from 13 countries, including
large delegations from India, Mongolia, Iran, Thailand, and Afghanistan are
taking part in the competition.
Vladimir Putin sent his greetings
to athletes, noting the growing popularity of the Games. The Russian President stressed
that these traditional competitions serve to promote the principles of
Olympism, the development of international humanitarian cooperation, as well as
the strengthening of friendly and personal contacts.
Vladivostok's bid to host the
Children of Asia Games was presented in September 2021 at the Eastern Economic
Forum. Primorye Territory has a wealth of experience in organizing large-scale
sport events. Recent landmark events included the Jigoro Kano International
Judo Tournament, a stage of the World Curling Series, and other status
competitions held as part of the sports programme of the Eastern Economic
Forum, as well as the final training stage of Russian national teams for the
Olympic Games in Tokyo.
“Children of Asia’s start
confirms that a modern international and national platform for high-performance
sports is developing in the Far East today. Vladivostok has become a sports hub
in the Asia-Pacific region. In the near future, world-class sports clusters
will be created here. Substantive dialogue on the development of sports
infrastructure will be continued at the Eastern Economic Forum,” said Advisor
to the President of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the EEF 2022
Organizing Committee Anton Kobyakov.
On the sidelines of the games

the development of sports infrastructure. The meeting discussed the
implementation of the presidential instructions on the construction of sports
