From 2 to 4 September, the 6th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF-2021) was held on Russian Island on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). The event took place in a hybrid format with in-person and remote guests and speakers. Russian video conferencing platform (VCS) Vinteo with built-in simultaneous translation functionality was used to connect online participants. 

Vinteo video conferencing system for 3 days of operation EEF-2021 serviced up to 40 conferences of business program on 10 hours daily, with up to 30 online participants (callers were connected via WebRTC, SIP and H.323 protocols), up to 16 images of speakers were displayed simultaneously on the screens of the Forum rooms. During the videoconference, Vinteo provided simultaneous interpretation in 7 languages (Russian, English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Mongolian, Italian), including remote interpreters. 

Live webcasts of the Forum’s Business Programme events were conducted in Russian and English and were available on all official channels of the EEF and Roscongress Foundation. 

The online Forum speakers, connected to the sessions both from specially equipped conference halls, equipped with video communication terminal equipment of different manufacturers, and using software clients. The Internet and closed networks were used as channels of communication, to prevent as much as possible and quickly solve the technical problems typical for transboundary CCS sessions (operating on unstable communication channels and connecting participants from closed corporate networks) maximum measures were taken. 

One of Vinteo’s most recent designs - the Automatic Audio Channel Volume Control Mode was implemented during EEF-2021. It made it possible to transmit the original speech of the Speaker to his or her language group if there was no need for interpretation, which greatly increased the comfort of conference participants using simultaneous translations. 

The Vinteo VCS Server Layout Control Mode was also actively applied, allowing dynamic changes of participant’s composition and location on the screen in accordance with the set regulations of each event. In particular, this mode was used to provide individual layouts to subscribers who were connected according to the requirements of the protocol services of a given country, and to transmit to the broadcast studio, if necessary, several different layouts - one identified by a major speaker, layout with a large number of displayed windows of participants etc. 

Preparation for the hybrid format of EEF-2021 business program activities took 2 months and included coordinating of the responsibility of the performers, branding interfaces, etc.
