Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov and Japans Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Russia Toyohisa Kozuki met in Moscow. The parties discussed cooperation as part of the upcoming 5th Eastern Economic Forum, which will take place in Vladivostok on 46 September.

This year Prime Minister Shinzō Abe will lead the official delegation of Japan should Prime Ministers schedule permit it, stated Toyohisa Kozuki.

The meeting emphasized the essential role of Japan in the preparation and holding of the Forum.

Today, we celebrate the well-formed political dialogue between the top officials of our countries. The next step should be the development of cooperation at all levels. Japan not only actively participates in the Eastern Economic Forum but also is its co-organizer. EEF economic and humanitarian contacts contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between Russia and Japan, said Anton Kobyakov.

The parties discussed the preparation of the Russian-Japanese summit events and also considered holding a RussiaJapan business dialogue with the participation of business representatives from both countries. It was further said that to date, more than 130 representatives of the Japanese business community had confirmed their participation in the Forum.

The participants pointed out that the Japanese delegation would traditionally participate in the Forums sporting programme, including the sumo match and the Annual International Jigoro Kano Junior Judo Tournament under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe. It was also noted that the Far East Street exhibition would host a Japanese gazebo, which is to become the symbol of the sports brotherhood of the two countries.
