Advisor
to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov and Japan’s Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Russia Toyohisa Kozuki met in Moscow. The parties
discussed cooperation as part of the upcoming 5th Eastern Economic
Forum, which will take place in Vladivostok on 4–6 September.
“This year Prime
Minister Shinzō Abe
will lead the official delegation of Japan
should Prime Minister’s schedule permit it,” stated Toyohisa
Kozuki.
The meeting emphasized the essential role of
Japan in the preparation and holding of the Forum.
“Today, we celebrate the
well-formed political dialogue between the top officials of our countries. The
next step should be the development of cooperation at all levels. Japan not
only actively participates in the Eastern Economic Forum but also is its
co-organizer. EEF economic and humanitarian contacts contribute to
strengthening bilateral relations between Russia and Japan,” said Anton Kobyakov.
The
parties discussed the preparation of the Russian-Japanese summit events and
also considered holding a Russia–Japan business dialogue with the participation of
business representatives from both countries. It was further said that to date,
more than 130 representatives of the Japanese business community had confirmed
their participation in the Forum.
The
participants pointed out that the Japanese delegation would traditionally
participate in the Forum’s sporting programme, including the sumo match and the
Annual International Jigoro Kano Junior Judo Tournament under the patronage of
the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister
of Japan Shinzō Abe.
It was also noted that the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition would host
a Japanese gazebo, which is to become the symbol of the sports brotherhood of
the two countries. The Russian party invited the Japanese colleagues to jointly
organize events at the site.

Great Bustard Exploring Kalmykia’s Steppe
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, VNII Ecologia, the Government of the Republic of Kalmykia, the Roscongress Foundation and Kamchatka Falcon Centre, with the participation of experts and foundations from the Gulf countries, continue to work on the implementation of the order of the President of the Russian Federation and the comprehensive action plan for the establishment of Russian centres for the reintroduction and conservation of falconiform birds in Kamchatka Territory and bustards in the Republic of Kalmykia.

2nd Falcon Day International Forum Dates Announced
The Organizing Committee of the 2nd Falcon Day International Forum met in Moscow under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Viktoria Abramchenko. The meeting was attended by representatives of the federal executive authorities and regional heads of the Russian Federation.
