Visiting session of the Eastern Economic Forum was held in Chita devoted to the integration of the Trans-Baikal Territory into the economic space of the Far East. The key event of the visiting session was the ‘200 days in the FEFD. Achievements and points of growth’ plenary session. Trans-Baikal Governor Alexander Osipov, Director of the Department of Human Resources and Territorial and Socio-Economic Development of the Regions in the Far East, Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Arctic Grigory Smolyak, and representatives of development institutions of the Far East, the regional business community, educational institutions, public organizations, and the Roscongress Foundation all took part.
Osipov noted that inclusion in the Far Eastern Federal District had brought the Trans-Baikal Territory advanced mechanisms for economic development.
“We need to learn how to take advantage of the unique location of our region and to use our resources in order to achieve what’s most important: improved quality of life and an improvement in the investment climate in Trans-Baikal”, – the acting governor emphasized.
Smolyak talked about how new mechanisms influence social and economic development in the Far East.
“The economic growth rate exceeded the Russian average, the industrial production index increased, the balance of direct investments equalled approximately USD 400 million. Results of this kind would have been impossible without the use of new development tools for the Far East. At present, there are 1597 investment projects being implemented in the region, which receive government support measures. More than 36,000 jobs have been created, and 214 projects worth RUB 188 billion have been implemented”, – Smolyak said.
As part of the visiting session, round tables and discussions were held on topics such as the strategy of attracting private investment, the operation of special preferential regimes in the Far East, including the creation of the Trans-Baikal Territory, the support of small and medium-sized businesses, the development of human capital, and the improvement of the Far Eastern Hectare programme, and a Roscongress Foundation master session on Developing Convention and Exhibition Activities was also held.
Discussion of the prospects for advanced socio-economic development in the regions of the Far East will continue as part of the 5th Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held 4–6 September in Vladivostok.

Great Bustard Exploring Kalmykia’s Steppe
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, VNII Ecologia, the Government of the Republic of Kalmykia, the Roscongress Foundation and Kamchatka Falcon Centre, with the participation of experts and foundations from the Gulf countries, continue to work on the implementation of the order of the President of the Russian Federation and the comprehensive action plan for the establishment of Russian centres for the reintroduction and conservation of falconiform birds in Kamchatka Territory and bustards in the Republic of Kalmykia.

2nd Falcon Day International Forum Dates Announced
The Organizing Committee of the 2nd Falcon Day International Forum met in Moscow under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Viktoria Abramchenko.
