EEF 2018 to Open a DPRK Trade House

It is planned to operate on the territory of the Free Port of Vladivostok, RIA Novosti reports.

4th Eastern Economic Forum, which will take place in Vladivostok on 11–13 September 2018, will see the opening of a trade house offering North Korean products.

Alexander Krutikov, Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East, and Lee Gwang Geun, Deputy Minister of External Economic Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, discussed the concept that was initially articulated by the Korean party at EEF.

“The idea to announce the opening of the Trade House at the Eastern Economic Forum is totally spot-on. We fully support it. In the soonest possible time we will hand over our suggestions concerning the organization of this Trade House,” said Alexander Krutikov.

The Trade House is to be set up on the territory of the Free Port of Vladivostok, and subsequently branches might be open in Moscow and Pyongyang.

Lee Gwang Geun noted that they had submitted a list of export goods to be sold through the Trade House to the Ministry for the Development of Russian Far East, among which are produce, construction materials, medical supplies and equipment, perfumes, sewn products, electronics, clothing etc. There are also plans for the Trade House to hold an annual national expo of DPRK’s goods and services.
