The Place to Be: Magadan Region to Show Large-Scale Projects at the Far East Street

Magadan Region is taking part in the Far East Street exhibition, which will start on 5 September on the embankment of the Ajax Bay in Vladivostok. The region will present flagship infrastructure projects and key areas of the local economy.

The main pavilion of the Magadan Region is visually made up of three golden triangles, symbolizing the unity of body, soul, and spirit. The triangle pattern is an ornamental element common among the northern peoples living in the region, and the gold coating of the pavilion facade is a reference to gold mining, the main branch of the Kolyma economy.

Visitors will see scaled models of major projects being implemented in the region today, primarily the Magadan Sea Façade. The development combines the Morskoy garden, the shore protection line of the Port highway, the New Scandinavia hotel complex, a yachting pier, the renovated Magadan Sea Fishing Port, Mayak park, and the Premier public cultural centre.

The administration will present other projects as well: a new domestic terminal of Magadan airport with the capacity up to 600 passengers per hour, Talaya recreational and health centre – the only Russian spa resort beyond the Arctic Circle with healing mineral springs and therapeutic mud, as well as the greenhouse complex on 1.5 hectares.

The Gorokhovoye Pole integrated development project, a pilot for the Integrated Territory Development Standard devised by DOM.RF together with Strelka Design Bureau and the Russian Ministry of Construction, will be presented.

Visitors to the pavilion will also get to see the famous Magadan Mammoth, a three-meter-tall replica of a celebrated sculpture entitled Time. The five-meter-tall original by Yuri Rudenko was installed in 2013 in Magadan on the shore of the Nagayev Bay. In 2022, the sculpture won the All-Russian contest of the most unusual folk-art objects held by TUTU.RU. The sculpture is also present on the top 90 locations to visit in Russia in the summer of 2022 list, and in the top 10 places in the Far East.

The "skin" of the mammoth is covered with metal parts and resembles a clockwork mechanism. The idea for it came to the author at the mine, when he came across mammoth bones covered with scrap metal. The sculpture imitates an ancient imperial mammoth that once lived on the territory of modern Kolyma.

In the small pavilion of the Magadan region, guests will see products with nuggets from the Russian Gold company of the Kolyma Concern Arbat. It is the only holding company in the country that is engaged in geological exploration, extraction of ore and placer gold, production and sale of jewellery.

Active visitors will be able to take part in master classes on gold panning and get prizes in the unique Prospector's Luck competition.

“Magadan Region is a part of the enormous Far East with its special climate, amazing nature, environmental riches and Kolyma people who love their land. Every year Kolyma breaks records in gold and silver mining. We supply the country with seafood. We develop our social sphere. Our task is not only to create a competitive investment climate but also to make Kolyma a place where people want to live and work. You are very welcome here!” notes Sergey Nosov, Governor of the Magadan Region.

Far East Street will be open on the waterfront of Ajax Bay at the campus of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) for guests and participants of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum from 5 to 8 September. After the end of the Forum, the exhibition will go on until 11 September. Entry for residents of Vladivostok and other cities is free.

The event is organized by the Roscongress Foundation. Registration for media representatives at the EEF 2022 is open on the official website.
