Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev has been apprised of Vladivostok’s preparations for the 6th Eastern Economic Forum.
“Fifty-one countries have confirmed they will participate in the Forum. Invitations are still being sent out. The last Forum set a record in terms of the number of participants with 65 countries attending. We continue to adhere to the main principle: we’re not holding the Forum just to hold it, but to take the next step in the development of the Far East. We will propose measures that will help people live better in the Far East, build new enterprises, put cities in order, and move forward,” Trutnev said.
Trutnev conducted a visual inspection of the readiness of the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition and examined the construction of the pavilions. The exhibition will be open on 2–7 September on the embankment of Ajax Bay as part of the EEF. It will present the unique features of all eleven regions of the Far Eastern Federal District as well as their economic potential, tourism opportunities, and cultural traditions. The regions will introduce Forum participants and guests to investment projects that they have implemented in addition to promising future projects.
“When we came up with the idea of the ‘Far East Street’ together with regional leaders, we talked about how it should show why the inhabitants of Magadan, Chukotka, Kamchatka, Sakhalin, Primorye, and other territories love their land. We are working within the framework of this concept,” Trutnev said.
The deputy prime minister informed the regional representatives that they should build permanent pavilions that will not be dismantled immediately after the Forum concludes. “The Far East will continue to develop, and the Forum will continue to take place. It’s important that the pavilions are built to the highest standard and don’t become empty: they can be rented out to entrepreneurs so that there are souvenir shops, cafes, or rooms where students can spend leisurely time,” he said.
The federal executive authorities will also have expositions on the Ajax embankment. The Russian Ministry of Sport will have a pavilion called ‘Sport: A Way of Life’, which will present the achievements of Russia’s national teams at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East will present the ‘Home on a Hectare’ exhibition with a fair to showcase products made by participants in the Far Eastern Hectare programme. The exposition will also offer consultations on how to acquire land for free in the Far East and the Arctic and present services that are available to participants in this large-scale project.
The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade will present the Aurus pavilion. Per tradition, it will include a Fish Market to demonstrate the products of Far Eastern fish producers.
The campus of Far Eastern Federal University is being prepared for the exhibition. A joint multimedia exposition of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation will present the results of its work to accelerate the development of the Far Eastern Federal District, as well as new projects and programmes, social initiatives, and services for citizens and investors. The exposition will have multifunctional zones for presentations, teleconferences, official agreement signing ceremonies, and business negotiations.
The expositions of federal ministries and agencies will be located inside the university building, where the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Russian Ministry of Transport, the Russian Federal Medical-Biological Agency, the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism, the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery, the Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation, the Russian Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre, and Cartography, the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, and others will give presentations about their activities. Forum participants and guests will have a chance to see achievements and successes in the development of international humanitarian activities, domestic medicine, scientific and industrial products, environmental protection and specially protected natural areas of the Far East, and the potential of tourism, civil aviation as well as sea, water, and rail transport.
On the same day, Trutnev viewed the municipal infrastructure involved in the EEF 2021. Vladivostok Mayor Konstantin Shestakov reported on preparations for the Forum and prospects for further improvements in the city. He said a development programme for the Far Eastern capital until 2026 is currently being drafted. The programme will be presented at the upcoming Forum. Work has also begun on the development of a strategy for the spatial development of Vladivostok.
Improvements are being made on the Amur Bay embankment on the section from Olimpiets sports complex to Batareynaya Street. “The embankment is under reconstruction. We understand that minor paving stone repairs will not be enough here. Major work is needed. A development concept has been prepared, the project has undergone an expert examination, and discussions are underway with potential concessionaires. We plan to build walking areas, children’s playgrounds, a sports and park area, and sites to put up art objects,” Shestakov said.
“Significant funds – roughly RUB 780 million – have been allocated to prepare for the Forum as part of the ‘Unified Subsidy’ for the Far East. We are building embankments and piers near the stadium, which have been in ruins for many years, improving building facades, repairing roads, and building parking lots. For us, the Forum is also an opportunity to decorate our city and lick it into shape,” Primorsky Territory Governor Oleg Kozhemyako said.
“More than RUB 14 billion in federal funds have been invested in Primorye solely as part of the programme for the socioeconomic development of the Far East, without taking into account all the other areas that go through the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Health, and others. This money has been spent on new hospitals, schools, kindergartens, roads, and here in Vladivostok, to improve the city. We will continue this work,” Trutnev said.

Bahrain Joins Framework Declaration on Conservation of Gyrfalcons
The Kingdom of Bahrain has become the seventh country to join the Declaration of Intent for the Conservation of the Gyrfalcon Population. The document was adopted by Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and the UAE as part the Falcon Day International Forum, which was first held in Vladivostok during the 8th Eastern Economic Forum. The event was managed by the Roscongress Foundation.

Moscow discussed promoting the potential of the Republic of Kalmykia for its development
A meeting between Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, and Batu Khasikov, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia, was held in Moscow to discuss the implementation of a number of key projects and programmes designed to create a long-term basis for the structural development of the economy of the Republic of Kalmykia and the Caspian region.

Great Bustard Exploring Kalmykia’s Steppe
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, VNII Ecologia, the Government of the Republic of Kalmykia, the Roscongress Foundation and Kamchatka Falcon Centre, with the participation of experts and foundations from the Gulf countries, continue to work on the implementation of the order of the President of the Russian Federation and the comprehensive action plan for the establishment of Russian centres for the reintroduction and conservation of falconiform birds in Kamchatka Territory and bustards in the Republic of Kalmykia.
