Yury Trutnev Invited Korean Businesspeople to the 5th Eastern Economic Forum

The press service of the Office of the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District reported that the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation made this announcement at a meeting with Lee Sok-bae, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation.

Yury Trutnev invited Korean officials and representatives of the business community to the 5th Eastern Economic Forum, which will be held on 4–6 September in Vladivostok.

“Last year the Republic of Korea was represented at the 4th Eastern Economic Forum by a delegation of more than 330 business representatives, and I am sure that this year the Korean delegation will be just as big,” said Lee Sok-bae.

In addition to preparing for the Eastern Economic Forum, the parties discussed cooperation in investment projects in the Far East. Yury Trutnev singled out a number of promising joint investment projects, including projects to modernize port infrastructure, produce environmentally friendly products, and build medical centres.

According to Lee Sok-bae, the tax benefits offered by the priority development areas and the Free Port of Vladivostok are helping to boost cooperation in the Far East. Korean investors are involved in six projects worth USD 50 million in these areas.
