Friends for Leadership at EEF 2022

Members of the international community of opinion leaders and entrepreneurs Friends for Leadership took part in the 7th Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok on 5–8 September. Friends for Leadership included participants from 23 countries: Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Cameroon, Chile, Croatia, Ghana, India, Iraq, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Morocco, Nigeria, Philippines, Serbia, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uganda, UAE, and the UK.

Community participants presented joint initiatives and projects in the field of sustainable development and acted as speakers in the sessions of the EEF 2022 business and youth programme. A number of meetings were also held with potential investors and partners from Russian and international business and finance leaders, as well as with the leadership of several Russian regions.

“We are glad that the Eastern Economic Forum has welcomed young and passionate opinion leaders and entrepreneurs – Friends for Leadership – from over 20 countries. I would like to note that some of the participants have come over for the second time to sign agreements and organize export/import transactions. Through the help of Roscongress, the Russian Center for Promotion of International Initiatives, and the Department of External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, this community of young leaders gets more and more instruments to implement cultural, humanitarian, trade, and economic projects with Russia. It fully meets the goals and objectives of Russia’s largest conventions and exhibitions,” said Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Eastern Economic Forum Organizing Committee.

The city of Moscow was the main partner of the young international leaders’ programme at the Forum. The business session for representatives of the international community of opinion leaders and entrepreneurs ‘Friends of Cities: Will Our Cities be Sustainable and Innovative in the New Realities?’ included a presentation on the economic, cultural, and humanitarian potential of the Russian capital. The session also discussed promising projects and possible cooperation to support Russian compatriots, opening cultural centres and Russian language schools in the participant countries.

The Forum also saw the signing of a cooperation agreement between Friends for Leadership and the Elbrus Club of winners of the All-Russian Russian Leaders competition to promote the best Russian initiatives abroad and support international projects in Russia. One of such initiatives was the environmental event ‘Clean Games’ held on September 8th in Truda Bay on Russky Island, where the participants managed to collect about 500 kg of rubbish in half an hour. Following the campaign, representatives of Friends for Leadership from Algeria signed an agreement to host the Clean Games.

Friends for Leadership is an ongoing international pool of foreign youth involved in promoting multilateral economic and humanitarian projects. The community was developed in 2018 through the joint efforts of the Russian Center for Promotion of International Initiatives and the Roscongress Foundation at SPIEF. It now brings together project teams from more than 100 countries working on scaling up their solutions in 23 project teams, including the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

The organizer of the Eastern Economic Forum is the Roscongress Foundation.
