The national rowing teams of Russia,
China, Uzbekistan, and Belarus took part in an international regatta in Novik
Bay on Russky Island, which served as the final event of the Vladivostok Open,
the sports programme of the 7th Eastern Economic Forum.
Tokyo 2020 medallist Anna Prakaten
won the single boat tournament. “The water area here is such that all you have
to do is go out and row. It’s really beautiful with the surrounding nature. I
think more competitions should be held here, and our friends from all countries
should be invited. I think the Chinese really liked it too this time,” Prakaten
said.
The women’s four led by Yelena
Danilyuk scored another victory for the Russian team. Tokyo 2020 medallist
Zhang Liang, along with Liu Dang, secured victory for the Chinese team in the
men’s doubles. Asian champion Jasurbek Mavlanov from Uzbekistan finished only 2
hundredths of a second ahead of Russian Alexey Kiyashko. The national team of
Uzbekistan also won the men’s eights.
Norilsk Nickel served as the general
partner of the International Regatta in Vladivostok. The competitions were
integrated into the EEF 2022 sports programme with the support of RC-Sport, the
sports platform of the Roscongress Foundation.
“This is a huge step forward for our
sport. We held a unique regatta as part of such a global forum. I want to thank
all the foreign athletes who supported this event,” Russian Rowing Federation
President and Olympic champion Alexey Svirin said.
Svirin and RC-Sport CEO Sergey
Moskvitin signed a cooperation agreement earlier at the pavilion of the
Ministry of Sports at the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition.
