Roscongress Foundation Recaps Expert and Analytical Work in 2022

The Roscongress Foundation’s expert and analytical work in 2022 culminated in hundreds of materials on the results of major business events, such as the 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the 10th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum (SPILF), the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), and Russian Energy Week (REW).

Analysts from the Roscongress Foundation and experts prepared over 500 analytical materials that provide an assessment and scientific and methodological understanding of the substantive outcomes of the forums. In particular, the foundation continued to develop the Summary service, which provides brief analytical summaries of discussions with a description of the conclusions, problems, and solutions voiced during the discussions. The Roscongress Foundation released 167 analytical summaries the SPIEF 2022, 46 after the SPILF 2022, 99 after the EEF 2022, and 25 after the REW 2022. They are all available on the pages of the forums in the ROSCONGRESS.ORG Information and Analytical System.

The analytical activities were also summarized in the reports ‘Results of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2022’, ‘Results of the Eastern Economic Forum 2022’, and ‘Results of Russian Energy Week 2022’. These materials are available in the Forum Results sections of the SPIEF 2022, EEF 2022, and REW 2022 pages, as well as on special interactive landing pages.

The Roscongress Foundation’s extensive analytical work involved specialists from the country’s leading academic, educational, expert, and analytical organizations. These include: St. Petersburg State University of Economics, National Research University Higher School of Economics, NTI Competence Centre with a focus on ‘Big Data Storage and Analysis Technologies’ based at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Far Eastern Federal University, the Institute of Regional Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, Russian News Agency TASS, ITI Research Centre, and the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Centre (VTsIOM). The expert materials can be found in the Analytics section of the ROSCONGRESS.ORG Information and Analytical System.

The Roscongress Foundation and VTsIOM conducted online surveys to determine how SPIEF and EEF participants perceived the events. In addition, the forum participants shared their views on Russia’s relations with China and Egypt as well as the situation around the world in terms of the geopolitical structure (ratio of poles of influence): 44% of respondents believe that the world is moving towards multipolarity, while 30% believe that the world is already multipolar.

Finally, as part of the programme of Russia’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021–2023, the Roscongress Foundation and the HSE Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies are implementing the Think Arctic-Think Global project. In 2022, five conferences were held on bilateral cooperation with China and India, as well as international cooperation among Arctic countries and organizations with the participation of experts, scientists, and representatives of business and the public authorities of Russia and other concerned countries. The results of the project will be presented at high-level panel discussions in 2023. The preliminary results are available here.
