Myanmar Delegation to Take Part in EEF 2022

Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation Anton Kobyakov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Lwin Oo met in Moscow. The agenda of the meeting was to discuss preparations for the participation of the Myanmar delegation in the Eastern Economic Forum 2022.

The main theme of this year’s Forum is ‘On the Path Towards a Multipolar World’. The  EEF is aimed at expanding multilateral cooperation between countries, primarily in the Asia-Pacific region, and searching for new directions for the socio-economic development of the Far East.

“The Forum's agenda pays special attention to the development of dialogue with ASEAN member States. I am sure that if the delegation of Myanmar can take part in the Russia-ASEAN business dialogue, it will become an additional impetus in establishing communication and developing mutually beneficial cooperation,” said Anton Kobyakov.

In order to expand contacts between the business communities of the two countries, the Russian side offered to include members of the official Myanmar delegation as speakers in the business programme of the Eastern Economic Forum.

Representatives of the Republic of Myanmar planned to sign Memoranda between the relevant ministries of the two countries to increase trade and economic relations between the two countries and develop political, as well as military-technical cooperation on the sidelines of the EEF-2022.

“We are pleased with the invitation and aim to achieve fruitful cooperation during the Eastern Economic Forum. Russia and Myanmar have good and friendly relations. I am confident that the work of the delegation at the Forum will contribute to the emergence of new joint projects in the Far East,” stressed U Lwin Oo.

Traditionally strategically important agreements aimed at improving mutually beneficial relations are concluded on the sidelines of the WEF. So, one of them in 2021 was a Memorandum of cooperation between the Ros Congress Foundation and the Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The Eastern Economic Forum will take place on 5–8 September 2022.

Media representatives can register for the EEF 2022 on the official website until 10 August 2022.
