American MMA Fighter Chris Honeycutt Wins Roscongress Vladivostok Combat Night Tournament

The first Roscongress Vladivostok Combat Night international mixed martial arts tournament was held on 5 September in Vladivostok as part of the sporting programme of the 5th Eastern Economic Forum. The event was organized by Telesport Media and the Roscongress Foundation.

Russian Alexander Shlemenko lost on points to American Chris Honeycutt in the main event of the evening. Shlemenko, two-time Grand Prix winner and multiple champion of the American promoter Bellator, was considered the favourite in the fight, which took place in the 84 kg and under weight class. But Honeycutt, after withstanding an initial beating, managed to gain the upper hand in the fight and knocked his opponent to the ground in all five rounds of the battle. The victory was Honeycutt’s twelfth in 15 fights.

The 70 kg and under weight category featured battles among young fighters: Evgeny Ryazanov and Ilya Tsigelnikov among men and Alexandra Radchenko and Lyubomira Galkina among women. Ryazanov won inside the distance in the first match, while the second fight ended in a draw.

Vladivostok resident Grigory Sirenko lost to Armenian fighter Grigor Grigoryan in the 80 kg and under category. In the heavier weight category, multiple Thai boxing world champion Alexey Kudin from Belarus, who has won 25 victories in MMA, defeated Dmitry Isachenko, another native of Primorye who has won numerous Russian boxing tournaments.
